| Course Description |
This course is designed to introduce the basic principles and concepts of sociology as a scientific study of human and its relationship with the society. This course will assist students in understanding general perspectives, concept and theories in sociology governing social organization and social behaviour in a variety of settings. Topics focus upon issues pertaining to social stratification, culture, socialization, deviance, population, and sex roles and its complication to the society and the role of social institutions such as family, school, education, health and the media and society building. Special attention will be given to the observation and accurate analysis of the nature of the society. The understanding of the perspective of sociology will enable students to develop own sociological imagination, understand society, address the challenges and facilitate critical thinking in applying the sociological importance to everyday life. |
