Course Description This course is designed to elaborate on the general outlook and system of the Malaysian laws and shall further expose on the laws which relate to the performing arts such as music, theatre, video (broadcasting) and films as well as the new emerging laws such as the cyber laws of Malaysia and other laws related to the industry. This course also gives students the awareness of their rights as professionals and an individual. The scopes of the course are Introduction to the concept of laws, The Malaysian legal system, Classification of Laws, Sources of the Malaysian Law, Individual rights under the Constitution, Laws of Contract, Law of Torts (Negligence, Defamation, Trespass & Nuisance), Company Law, Partnership & Sole-Proprietorship, Intellectual Property Laws (focus on Copyright, Patent and Trademark), Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and the latest development on related Laws. Students are assessed continuously based on a few assignments and presentations. At the end of the course, students are to sit for the final test.
