| Course Description |
This course is an introduction to the study of language and linguistics. It introduces students to the basic concepts, principles and theories in language and linguistics. It provides some background information on the origins of language, differences between animal and human language, language acquisition/learning and linguistics matters that include phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics. It also teaches students to analyze some language issues based on movies/reports/documentaries, and write a project paper regarding language-related issues. |
