Course Name (English) ADVANCED MECHANICS OF CONCRETE AND PRECAST STRUCTURES
Course Code ECS719
MQF Credit 3
Course Description Most of the topics cover non-linear behaviour of reinforced concrete and precast structures under static and dynamic loadings. Advanced mechanics properties of concrete including stress fields, stress-strain relationship in 2D and 3D, concepts of plasticity and elasto-plastic in reinforced concrete and precast structures, non-linear behaviour of unconfined and confined concrete and finally, development of moment-curvature analysis using non-linear behaviour of reinforced and precast concrete.
Transferable Skills Critical thinking and problem solving skills
Teaching Methodologies Lectures, Blended Learning, Case Study, Discussion
CLO
CLO1 Develop the relationship of stress-strain under 2D and 3D of concrete structures
CLO2 Analyse the concepts of 2D plasticity and plastic hinge mechanism and its application to damage of reinforced concrete structures.
CLO3 Construct moment-curvature analysis using non-linear structural mechanics of concrete and numerical integration schemes.
