Course Description This introductory course provides an early start to the development of the essential skills such as team working, communication in both written and verbal forms, design thinking, critical and creative thinking, lifelong learning and problem solving in engineering practices using CDIO (Conceive-Design-Implement-Operation) engineering education framework and addressing Sustainable Development Goals; SDG4 (Quality Education), SDG6 (Clean Water and Sanitization) and SDG11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). This course introduces students to the roles and responsibilities of civil engineers in the development and advancement of human civilization with respect to ethical principles, roles and responsibilities of professional civil engineers and norms of engineering practice and aims to stimulate students’ interest in civil engineering and strengthen their motivation. It also includes active and experiential learning through problem-based or project-based learning exercises.
